BYOD at Butler College - MacBooks or iPads
We are committed to ensuring our curriculum takes full advantage of technology to ensure we achieve best practice in teaching your child. In doing so, we require students to have an appropriate device which they must bring to school each day. From 1 February 2023 the following devices* will be acceptable for use by students of Butler College:
- Apple Macbook Air
- Apple Macbook Pro
- Apple iPad
*meeting minimum Operating System and other requirements
Please note that our policy is set at these 3 Apple options – no other devices will be supported by the College’s IT systems.
Below are the minimum specifications your child’s device will need. It is important to ensure these minimums are met in order for your child to access the school’s internet through our wifi network. These specifications will also ensure your child’s device is compatible with the electronic resources provided by Butler College.
Apple MacBook – Air or Pro (recommended for senior students)
- Minimum Operating System: MacOS 11 – Big Sur
- Protective case – highly recommended (eg STM Dux Case or similar).
Apple iPad
- Minimum Operating System: iPadOS 14
- Keyboard – essential (hybrid case and keyboard highly recommended).
- Protective case – highly recommended (if not purchasing the hybrid case/keyboard).
- Pencil – optional
